Shift :   7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Schedule B (days vary) - 12 hour shifts
 

Rate of Pay:    Depends on Experience. Less than 3 years of experience is $17.00/hr, 3 years or greater is $18.00/hr.

 

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida statue 464.
  • Previous psychiatric experience preferred.

Description

  • Serves as unit supervisor.  Oversees and coordinates unit activities across all shifts in accordance with established procedures and plans.  Provides direct supervision for assigned shift nursing and MHA staff and oversight / indirect supervision of alternate shift staff and operations.  Ensures unit operates in accordance with established policies and procedures and medical staff direction.  Organizes shift for effective and economical use of time, personnel and materials.  Ensures that work schedules and unit activities are implemented in accordance with established procedures, plans, and protocols.
  • Coordinates development, implementation and monitoring of nursing care elements of treatment plans for each patient.  Ensures inclusion of pertinent nursing assessment findings and patient care needs in the treatment plan. Reviews and signs-off on each treatment plan. Provides and documents direct nursing care as needed in accordance with unit procedures and approved treatment plans/physician's orders.
  • Receives, documents and implements/carries out Admission, Standing/Routine and ad hoc physician orders in accordance with unit procedures.  Conducts “read back” process for each verbal order in accordance with Agency policy/unit procedures.  Provides and documents direct nursing care as needed in accordance with unit procedures and approved treatment plans/physician's orders. 
  • Administers medication and documents administration in accordance with unit procedures.  Verifies proper identification of patient using two identifiers (photograph and name) for each medication administration and clinical test procedure in accordance with Agency policy/Unit procedure.
  • Completes documentation for shift report and daily staffing report.
