Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy; Master's degree in Music Therapy, preferred.
  • Must be certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in Music Therapy minimum; Master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience. Prior professional experience in the mental health field preferred. 

 

Description

  • Plans and implements group/individual therapeutic music activities of appropriate duration and frequency on EPH, PATH, PCC, and Residential programs in accordance with treatment plans and unit activity schedules.
  • Completes daily progress notes to reflect service provision and clinical response/outcome for each client participant in accordance with charting/clinical record handbook specifications.
  • Music ability to sing, play guitar, rhythm and/or other instruments.
  • Designs musical interventions relevant to the client's age, culture, language, music background, and preferences that address client goals and objectives based on available research, clinical expertise; and the needs, values, and preferences of the client.
  • Uses appropriate musical instrument and equipment consistent with treatment needs and uses non-music materials consistent with music therapy goals and clients' learning styles (e.g., adaptive devices, visual aids.
  • Provided input into development and update of unit/program activity schedules as requested.
  • Assists in maintaining cleanliness and safety of activity therapy areas used by the Music Department.
  • Supervises music therapy interns as necessary.
